This would be one case in which the film title really does say it all.
The teaser trailer for "Star Trek Into Darkness" is grim from start to finish, as it focuses on the havoc Benedict Cumberbatch's much-speculated-about villain aims to unleash.
Directed by J.J. Abrams, who also helmed 2009's "Star Trek," "Into Darkness" sees the Enterprise crew facing an evil that emerged from their own organization.
As images of destruction play out with plenty of explosions, Cumberbatch's one-man terror force starts in with his ominous questioning.
"You think your world is safe?" Cumberbatch says. "It is an illusion. A comforting lie told to protect you."
And then, the warning: "Enjoy these final moments of peace. For I have returned to have my vengeance."
Judging from the minute-long clip, it'll involve provoking Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), Uhura (Zoe Saldana) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) into battle.
"Star Trek Into Darkness" opens May 17, 2013. What do you think of the clip?
